What is Thermage?
This is a non-surgical procedure that has been clinically proven to help smooth and improve skin for an overall younger looking appearance. It is used to lift and tighten the skin and can be used on the face, eyelids, back of the hands, neck, and chest area. You can use thermage for wrinkles, and achieve brow, cheek and jaw line lifting. The procedure provides natural looking results with little or no downtime.
How it Works?
Thermage treatment uses radiofrequency energy in order to create a uniform heating effect in the deep dermis. The gentle heating helps tighten existing collagen as well as stimulates the production of new collagen.
How does it feel?
You will feel a brief sensation of heat every time the device is pulsed. However, the device will monitor the surface temperature of your skin and apply a cooling cryogen spray, which is delivered before, during as well as after the application of heat. In case you do feel any discomfort, ask the doctor to turn down the energy just a bit.
How long do the effects last?
While results have been observed to last for at least two years, studies indicate that the beneficial changes in skin collagen can last over two years in some cases. However, as with almost all skin restorative procedures including surgical facelifts, some age-related signs may slowly return as the process of aging and sun damage continues.
How many treatment sessions do I need?
If you are 30 to 50, one session may be enough. If you are over 50, you need to plan on 2 treatments 6 months apart. After that you will need maintenance sessions every 1 to 2 years. Most people repeat the treatment every two years.
How long is the recovery?
You can resume routine activities almost immediately after treatment, since there is no down time. Even makeup can be applied immediately after treatment. After treatment, minimal redness is noticed in some patients, but this generally subsides within a couple of hours. Sometimes, mild swelling is observed after the treatment, but disappears within 2 or 3 days.
What is CPT?
Comfort Pulse Technology or CPT builds on the proven efficacy of this treatment platform. Thermage CPT goes one step further with integrated user and patient comfort features in order to deliver the best results and best treatment experience.
Is it Safe?
Radiofrequency energy has been utilized in operating rooms for more than 25 years. This therapy has been cleared by the FDA for cosmetic indications. Studies report only a small incidence of minor and temporary side effects.
